SYNOPSIS

Three immigrants, Wong Lung, Chow San, and Chai Yun, float across the sea to seek a better life in Hong Kong. One year after the struggle to get to Hong Kong, they are now settled and are work hard to earn they living. Both Wong and Chow also fight for the affections of Chai Yun.

Wong Lung (Bruce Li) and Chow San (Lo Meng) work at the Wharf, and one day see a young black boy, Tom (Carl Scott), being beaten by their racist bosses and quickly go to his aid. They lose there jobs but become good friends with Tom. Wong has a love for martial arts and teaches Tom how to better defend himself.

While Wong Lung trains hard in martial arts, Chow San spends most of his time and money gambling and becomes involved with gangsters. Still with out a job, Wong decides to enter a martial arts contest, and promises Chai Yun that he will marry her, should he win. Despite his own feelings for her, Chow helps Wong buy a expensive engagement ring and wishes his two friends well. 

Wong rises to the final round and wins the martial arts contest. The local crime boss, Chang (Ku Feng), is not very pleased that his best fighter has been defeated in the contest, and hires three expert fighters to deal with Wong. Chang is himself a expert kung fu fighter and has been keeping a close eye on Wong since the incident at the wharf.
