SYNOPSIS
Based on the life story of Bruce Lee.
Two childhood friends Bruce Lee and Hsiao Hu spend all their time together playing and learning kung fu. When up in the high hills they visit the accient chinese statues and gain a new master who teaches them proper kung fu, unlike what they had previously learnt. As the two boys grow into adulthood, they still continue in training.
Bruce's constant practicing causes friction with his childhood sweetheart Chow Ming. When a group of bullies tease him whilst out walking with her, Bruce puts his skills and fights with the men. Although his skills are good he is injured by one of the attackers.
Swearing to never be beaten like that again, Bruce returns to practice even harder in his quest to become the greatest martial artist.
Shortly afterwards, Bruce announces that his parents want to send him to America and asks Chow Ming to wait for him but her mother has different ideas for her daughters future.
In America, Bruce now runs his own martial arts school and begins dating one of his students. When returning home, he is attacked by a bitter rival Karate master and Bruce almost beats him to death.
Some years later, Bruce decides to make a flying visit to his hometown to see his old friends. He first goes to see Hsiao Hu who is now a stage actor. When he inquires about Chow Ming whereabouts, Hsiao Hu acts suspicious. It is only when Bruce spots her on the street that he discovers that she is now married.
Backstage at one of his shows a movie producer asks Hsiao Hu to star in his latest film but he is not interested and instead suggests that he should use Bruce. However, the producer insults Bruce by saying that he doesn't look much like a fighter.
With his rise in public profile, the producer soon comes around to ask Bruce to appear in his movie. Bruce however has already made plans of his own and has already signed a contract with another company to make movies.
With a wife and children and his dreams coming true, Bruce starts to question his goals in life and also begins to wonder about his own mortality.
